The Students' Union has a small number of minibuses available for Sport & Society Groups to hire. All booking information can be found below.


Note: If your group is asked to hire a minibus for a BUCS fixture, there will be no cost attached to this booking. It will be free of charge to your group. 


Hiring a Minibus


Firstly, any person wishing to drive a minibus (or their own vehicle) for any group activity, must complete the Student Driver Registration Form. This must be completed for every academic year. 


At the end of the Student Driver Registration Form, you will be asked if you would like to take a minibus test. If so, please tick yes. You will be contacted to arrange a test. There will be a cost of £5 per assessment. 


Should your group wish to hire a minibus from the Students' Union, you should complete the Student Driver Registration form and submit a Activity Group Vehicle Hire Request. These can be completed at the same time. Note: For your minibus hire to be confirmed, all drivers will need to complete a minibus assessment. 


Before completing an Activity Group Vehicle Hire Request, please read the below:

  • All drivers need to be registered BEFORE any booking will be confirmed. 
  • All drivers need to have completed a minibus assessment to be eligible to drive the vehicles. Bookings for this can be made HERE.
  • Booking priority will only apply to requests that have an assessed and registered driver on our records at the time of confirmation.
  • There is a £40 per day hire fee for each vehicle.
  • Groups are responsible for fuel payment.
  • If your drivers require a minibus assessment, there will be a cost of £5 per assessment.

If a minibus is available, you will receive a confirmation email from lususport@lancaster.ac.uk.


Key Collecting/Drop Off Process


Once you have received your confirmation email, there will be a collection window for you to collect the key for your allocated vehicle.  

Keys can be collected the security lodge. To collect the keys, you must fill out the form and provide your student ID and email to the security staff member.  

It is the responsibility of the group to ensure that the vehicle is fully fuelled before it is returned. If it is not, you will be invoiced for a full tank. 

To return the keys, this can either be done at the drop off point at (TBC) or at the security lodge where they were collected.  

The same form needs to be filled out upon return for your key drop off to be logged. Here you can log any incidents or information regarding your trip.
