From October 2025, your Sport Pass will be digital. So instead of a physical plastic card, a digital badge will appear on your iLancaster ID card. 

What is a Sport Pass?

Any student participating in BUCS, College, or Intramural Sport is required to have a Sport Pass. It can be purchased from the Sports Centre reception desk as a one-off payment or as part of your annual or 9-month Sports Centre membership (available with Off-Peak, Peak, or Rock & Racquet). 

The cost of each pass is subject to change each academic year and will be updated annually.

When do I need to use my Sport Pass?

  • Access Sports Centre facilities
  • Can be used for BUCS ID checks on match day
    • Note for BUCS athletes - while your digital sport pass will get you into facilities, you may still need to carry your physical university ID card on game days to allow opposition teams to complete team sheet checks in line with BUCS regulations. 

How do I access my digital Sport Pass?

The LUSU Sport team aim to get everyone uploaded within 2-3 working days of purchase. Once uploaded, your digital Sport Pass will appear on the app. 

If you are having trouble viewing your Sport Pass, you may need to log out and log back in again. If the issue persists, contact LUSU Sport team. However, we do recommend you allow 7 days for the whole process to complete, and before contacting the LUSU Sport team.


Student Sport RED 

Cost 25/26: TBC

Any student participating in any element (including training) of the Level 4 or 5 (funded or non-funded) Intervarsity Sports offer must have a RED pass. 

  • The price of RED passes will be agreed by the Sport Operations Group in the preceding academic year. 

  • This pass expires at of each academic year. 

  • RED passes will also allow the student access to Level 3 Activity. 

  • RED passes will NOT allow the student to access the Intramural or discounted Turn Up & Play sporting offer, a separate pass must be bought for students who also wish to participate in Intramural Sport or for discounted Turn Up & Play. 


Student Sport PURPLE 

Cost 25/26: TBC

Any student participating in any element of activity (including training) offered under Level 3 must have a PURPLE pass. 

  • The price of PURPLE passes will be agreed by the Sport Operations Group in the preceding academic year. 

  • This pass expires at the end of each academic year. 

  • PURPLE passes will also allow the student access Intramural Competitions & discounted Turn Up & Play Access. 


Student Sport TEAL 

Cost 25/26: TBC

TEAL passes come in two types, annual & termly. Any student participating in Intramural Competitions must have a TEAL pass that covers the duration of the competition. 

Annual 

  • Valid from time of purchase to the end of that academic year. 

  • TEAL pass allows students to sign up for Intramural competitions (will still need to pay registration fee for that activity). 

  • Gives free access to all Turn Up & Play sessions. 

Termly 

  • Valid from time of purchase until the end of that current term. 

  • TEAL pass allows students to sign up for Intramural competitions that start and finish in that term (will still need to pay registration fee for that activity).
